Visas and Immigration
The Australian Consulate General Bali Immigration Section provides services for the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) in Indonesia.
Applying for a visa
The Australian Consulate-General Bali and the Australian Embassy in Jakarta have an arrangement with the Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC) to accept visa applications on their behalf. The AVAC has offices in Bali and Jakarta at:

The AVAC provides the following benefits to clients:
- Lodge application in person and receive basic visa information
- No appointment required
- Extended counter hours
- Courier option
- Tracking of your application once lodged
A fee of Rp 150,000 per passport is charged for this service. This is in addition to the visa application charge required by the Australian Embassy Immigration Section to process your visa application.

Visa applications can also be lodged on your behalf by registered migration agents, travel agents or student education agents. Alternatively, you can courier or mail your application directly to the Immigration Sections at the Consulate in Bali or the Embassy in Jakarta.

Applications lodged by courier or mail must be in a sealed envelope and clearly addressed to the Australian Consulate General Bali Immigration Section. Applications must include a pre-paid return envelope clearly stating the return delivery address.
Applications must clearly state the full name, Kartu Tanda Penduduk (KTP) number and contact details of the person you authorise to collect your passport/documents once your application has been finalised (see below about asking a friend or relative to check the status of your application).
Visa applications can also be lodged in person with the Consulate Immigration Section during office hours.
Visa decisions are made by immigration staff at the Consulate in Bali and the Embassy in Jakarta. Visa decisions are not made by AVAC or other agency staff.
Citizenship
Citizenship Applications can be lodged in person between 8.30am until 12.00pm, or by mail or courier to the Consulate Immigration Section.
Visa Application Charges
All visa application charges are listed on the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) website at: www.immi.gov.au
Visa and citizenship application charges at 1 July 2008:
- Visitor and Business visitors – Rp 910,000.
- Family Migration – Rp 12,910,000.
- Student – Rp 4,090,000
- Temporary Residence – Rp 2,270,000.
- Resident Return Visa – Rp 2,180,000.
- Re-evidence of a Resident Return Visa – Rp 91,000.
- Registration of Citizenship by Descent - Rp 940,000
These visa application charges can change regularly. For your application to be valid we need to receive the charge that is applicable on the day you lodge your application. Ensure that you have the most current information by visiting www.immi.gov.au before lodging your application.
Payment Methods
Cash - Payment can be made in cash (Rupiah only).
Payment in Australia - If you have a sponsor or relative in Australia, they may pay the visa application charge on your behalf at the nearest DIAC office in Australia. They should then send the receipt to you for submission with your visa application.

Important notice for visa applicants
- Full disclosure must be made on all previous visa applications. Providing false or misleading information may lead to your application being refused.
- Applications should be complete at the time of lodgement so they can be finalised as quickly as possible. Checklists are available for each visa type to assist you. Please note that decisions will be made on your application based on the information you provide.
- Do not send original documents with your application unless requested.
- All documents must be in English or have an English translation.
- All copies of documents must be certified.
- In some cases, additional documents or information about your particular circumstances may be required in order for your application to be processed. A visa officer will contact you should this occur.

Can I ask about the status of my friend or relative’s application?
Due to Australian privacy laws staff at the AVAC, the Consulate in Bali and the Embassy in Jakarta can only respond to enquiries from the applicant directly. Therefore, we are unable to provide any information to another person making enquiries on behalf of the applicant unless the applicant has given written authorisation for information to be disclosed to that person. There are no exceptions to this rule, including relatives and sponsors.
To give authorisation for information about your application to be disclosed to another person, please complete form 956 and return to the Immigration Sections at the Consulate in Bali or Embassy in Jakarta. This form is available at www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/956.pdf
